The City of Mission is hosting the Downtown Mission Window Decorating Contest this winter season. Downtown businesses are invited to fill out a brief interest form to secure your spot on the ballot. Participating business locations will be highlighted in our community outreach to generate excitement for downtown Mission throughout the holiday shopping season.

Business owners must submit an interest form by Friday, Oct. 25, 2024 to be included on the ballot.

CONTEST PRIZES
We hope this event will promote lots of activity downtown during the holiday season. Prize money will be awarded by a panel of judges in the categories of 1st Place , 2nd Place, and 3rd Place, and an additional People’s Choice Award will be voted on by the public. Judges will keep in mind the following criteria for each window:
• Originality – The creativity and originality in the design concept.
• Spirit – The likelihood to foster community camaraderie with inclusive and family friendly design.
• Workmanship – The craftsmanship in the creation. Detail in design and creation of objects with the effective use of colors and materials.

DOWNTOWN WINDOW DECORATING CONTEST GUIDELINES
• Interest Forms Due Oct. 25 to confirm your spot on the ballot!
• Contest windows must be completed and ready for judging by 10:00 a.m. on November 30, 2024 (Small Business Saturday).
• Display period will run from November 30 through December 31, 2024. Voting period will run from Nov. 30-Dec. 22.
• Winners will be announced on December 23, 2024.
• We strongly recommend your window be lit up in some way at night. Display materials and decorations must be contained inside the window and contest is for decorations visible from the exterior only. Judging will be done from outside the building.
• Entry is free!
• Contest is limited to business windows in the Downtown Mission area, Johnson Drive between Lamar and the Mission Transit Center.
