Federal Grant and Loan Funding Freeze Impacts Mission
February 11, 2025

The Federal grant and loan funding freeze enacted at the end of January has a large impact on ongoing and future capital projects in the City of Mission. Mayor Flora has reached out to Mission’s congressional delegation, including Senators Jerry Moran and Roger Marshall and Representative Sharice Davids, on January 25 and again with a follow up on March 5 to express concern about the ongoing unknown status of these Federal funds related to projects across the City. Mayor Flora, the City Council, and City Staff will continue to follow up with contacts at Federal agencies responsible for the funding until the funding questions are answered. A detailed list of the projects currently affected by the Federal grant and loan funding freeze can be reviewed here.

Mayor Flora and the City Council encourage residents and friends of the City to contact Representative Davids, Senator Moran, and Senator Marshall to encourage a quick and positive resolution to the funding freeze to ensure that communities across Kansas are able to move forward with awarded Federal funds that ensure safe roads, healthy communities, and public safety.  Please use the resources in the hyperlinks below to sign up for email communications, office updates and complete surveys to share your thoughts with our elected officials. We will provide additional updates to this ongoing situation as we have them.
