Due to the Blizzard Warning, anticipated additional snowfall through midnight tonight, and extremely cold overnight temperatures, all City facilities including City Hall, the Powell Community Center, and Municipal Court, will be closed on Monday, January 6.
Closing city facilities tomorrow will allow crews to focus on continued snow removal of all City streets, and, more importantly, ensure roads remain clear for emergency service personnel and first responders.
Please stay safe and continue to minimize travel as the storm moves through. Monitor social media for updates on road conditions, trash and recycling service delays, and additional closures.
🚨Trash Service Update🚨
Due to inclement weather in and around Kansas City, GFL Environmental Kansas City will experience service delays during the week of January 6. 🌧️❄️
As of 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 5, trucks will not be able to service residential customers on Monday, January 6. They are hopeful to resume service on Tuesday, January 7 and run on a one-day delay for the remainder of the week. At this time, please plan to place your trash and recycling curbside on THE DAY AFTER your normal scheduled pickup day. 🗑️♻️
To help resume normal service sooner, GFL will not collect yard waste during the week of January 6. However, GFL will collect double the amount of yard waste during the week of January 13.
Thank you for your patience, and please stay tuned for updates on additional service changes from our solid waste collection partner during this winter storm.
