Seasonal Opportunities

Leaf Busters and Snow Angels are seasonal volunteer programs that match elderly/disabled residents with volunteers who will clear yards of leaves and yard debris and shovel snow. Matches are made as they are requested, and as schedules allow. There is no obligation to volunteer each time by adding your name to the contact list.

Adopt-A-Street Program
Mission's Adopt-A-Street program enables community public organizations to participate in enhancing our community by adopting a section of our city's streets and removing litter from the public Right of Way. For an application click here

Adopt-A-Park Program

Community groups may adopt a park, and will receive training on basic park maintenance to help Mission's parks look their best. Contact Mission Parks and Recreation at 913-722-8200 for more information.

Mission Market
The Mission Market is on Thursdays in Downtown Mission during the summer season. Each week, "market ambassadors" welcome visitors, help answer questions, and assist the market coordinator with set up and cleaning up. There are two shifts available between 4:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Contact Emily Randel at 913-676-8368 or use the online sign-up form to see available shifts.

Serving on a Board and Commission

If you are interested serving on one of the City's Boards and Commissions, please contact Mayor Ron Appletoft. If you have any questions, please contact City Clerk Martha Sumrall at 913-676-8355.
