Charitable Giving
The City of Mission has several opportunities for charitable giving. These programs offer donors a chance to connect and support the community in special ways. Some of the programs include:
  • The Memorial Flag Fund - A $50 donation supports the maintenance and replacement of the American flags that line Johnson Drive between Memorial Day and Veterans Day. Donations can be made in honor or memory of anyone, often a member of the U.S. Armed Forces.
  • The Celebration Tree Program - Donations of various amounts support a tree planted in a Mission park in honor of someone, with the option of installing a plaque naming the tree's honoree.
  • Summer Camp Scholarship Fund - Donations reduce the costs of a week of summer camp at the Sylvester Powell, Jr. Community Center for families who could use the financial help.
  • Mission:Dog Park - A grassroots, volunteer group formed in 2017 to explore the potential of creating an off-leash dog park in Mission. Donations would support activities of the group, as well as investment in a future park.
  • Holiday Adoption Program - The largest of the donation programs, the City of Mission adopts families of those in area schools referred by the school social workers. The families receive donated holiday meals at Thanksgiving and Christmas and wrapped gifts at Christmas.

You may donate to the City's charitable funds.
